Now that True Blood has finished shooting its seventh and final season, Anna Paquin is no longer contractually obligated to retain Sookie's blonde hair. The 31-year-old actress celebrated by changing her color in a big way. Red? Nah. Dark brown? Nope. Purple? Yep. Dark blue? Mmhm. Seafoam green? Check. She's got it all.

Why? Simple: Anna's teen dream was to be a mermaid. And now, it's a reality.

Her husband (and True Blood costar) Stephen Moyer's response is predictably adorable:

Anna's the latest hair chameleon to join the purple-hued trend. She's joining the ranks of Nicole Richie, Kelly Osbourne, and Demi Lovato among others. And while we're loving the look, we gotta wonder: Why were there no mermaids in True Blood? We've already seen vampires, werewolves, witches, fairies, and other mythical creatures. No mermaid love?
