Here's Why Keri Russell Felt Like An Idiot On 'Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes'

Someone get her a pet baby ape.

Acting in a world of make-believe apes and people in grey monkey suits is enough to make anyone feel a little bit dumb and embarrassed, but did it make "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" star Keri Russell actually feel like an idiot?

"Definitely," Russell told MTV News, though she clarified by saying, "I always feel like an idiot. I feel like an idiot going out to get the mail."

The "Americans" actress also wasn't used to working on a project just as massive as the sequel.

"The process is really bizarre, and I've never really been involved in anything of this magnitutde," Russell told MTV News.

Russell said that after the dozens of takes they would do with Andy Serkis in his grey monkey suit, the take they ended up using was done completely without the motion capture actor. "I don't care if he's hugging you, I don't care if he's grabbing you, or you're reacting to very physical things, you have to do it all yourself ... it is crazy."

But most disappointing for Russell was that one of her favorite scenes in the script, where she gets to hold a baby ape, was done mostly with movie magic.

"In reading it, one of my favorite things I was so excited to do was this thing with the baby ape. And in the movie I love that part."

Unfortunately, there was no baby ape, and when Reeves told Russell to simply imagine it, Russell said, "Imagine, I don't understand. Where's the little baby ape?"

Will someone get Keri Russell a baby ape already? Seriously guys. Not cool.

"Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" is in theaters now.
