'Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Braces For 'Captain America' Aftermath

The cast of the Marvel TV series prepares for huge changes courtesy of 'Winter Soldier.'

There are at least [article id="1724516"]nine reasons to see "Captain America: The Winter Soldier,"[/article] and here's one more: It's a can't-miss affair for fans of [article id="1723446"]"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."[/article]

The ABC and Marvel TV series focuses on the miraculously resurrected [article id="1723511"]Agent Phil Coulson[/article] and his hand-selected squad of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, as they travel the globe and work together to stop nefarious forces, like the as-yet unidentified Clairvoyant. The events of this weekend's "Captain America" sequel are sure to shake the foundation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but no property will feel those effects more profoundly and immediately than "S.H.I.E.L.D." -- as soon as tonight's new episode, titled "End of the Beginning."

"Anyone who sees this movie is going to want to see our show," said [article id="1720476"]Chloe Bennet, who plays computer hacker Skye[/article]. "There's a huge, huge tie-in."

Indeed there is: "Winter Soldier" features some game-changing shifts in the greater Marvel Universe that "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," by its very title and nature, cannot avoid.

"One thing that Marvel has been very clear about is, we're all connected," said Clark Gregg, the man behind Coulson, and the actor who has logged the most screen-time in the live-action Marvel Universe by leaps and bounds. "There's nothing that happens on our show that isn't true in the bigger world of the Marvel movies, and there's nothing that isn't true in the Marvel movies that isn't true for us."

To hear it from Elizabeth Henstridge, the actress who plays S.H.I.E.L.D. scientist Jemma Simmons, the "Captain America" fallout has been seeded throughout the entire first season of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," adding a lot of re-watch value.

"Looking back on it, our show has been leading up to this," she said. "Once we get to the end of the season, and you start rewatching, you'll see all of these little clues along the way."

We won't spoil the big "Captain America" twist for you here, though it's not hard to find online, since the film was released internationally last week. Suffice it to say, if you're an "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." loyalist, then "Winter Soldier" is required viewing. And that's not the only thing that's required.

"Everyone should go get Depends adult diapers," said Bennet, "because they're all going to be sh---ing themselves."

Prepare for the "Captain America" fallout with tonight's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," airing at 8PM ET/PT.
