The 86th Academy Awards will be hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, her second time leading the stage on Oscar night. The 2014 field is a competitive one, with Best Picture nominees ranging from crime capers like David O. Russell's "American Hustle" and Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf of Wall Street," to thrillers such as Paul Greengrass' "Captain Phillips" and Alfonso Cuaron's "Gravity."

The acting categories are equally crowded, filled with actors like Jennifer Lawrence, nominated as a supporting actress for "American Hustle," and Matthew McConaughey, up for his lead role in "Dallas Buyers Club."
