Yes, Channing Tatum Is Writing 'Magic Mike 2' Next To A Bust Of Matthew McConaughey

It looks like the stripper sequel might be back on after all.

We're not sure what's the most exciting part of the picture that Channing Tatum uploaded to hit Facebook page last night: that he's hard at work writing "Magic Mike 2" or that he also has a bust of Matthew McConaughey.

Fans of the surprise hit inspired by Tatum's early days as a stripper have known essentially since the original movie premiered that there has been talk of a sequel, potentially a road movie. But the future of the project seemed shaky in recent months with Steven Soderbergh's retirement from directing theatrical features.

When speaking with Tatum last year at the premiere of "Side Effects," he expressed some doubt. "I don't know if we can do 'Magic Mike 2' without our general [Soderbergh]," he said. "It's hard. It's a hard situation to be in. Soderbergh said he'll produce it, and we're like 'What director is going to want to come on and try to come behind you?' It's hard, but we're going to figure it out. Either he'll do it, or maybe we won't do it."

Given that sentiment from last year, the new photo of Tatum working should raise some spirits for a number of reasons. And unless Tatum is a big fan of "The Girlfriend Experience," we get the feeling that he's working in Soderbergh's office. Perhaps his producer role is more hands-on than Tatum had expected last year.
