2 Chainz Keeps Based On A Tru Story Saga Alive With Third Album

During a visit to 'RapFix Live,' 2 Chainz explains that he's sticking with B.O.A.T.S theme for his upcoming LP.

2 Chainz isn’t closing the chapter on his Based On A T.R.U. Story series anytime soon. The saga continues with his upcoming album B.O.A.T.S. III, and it will stretch out far beyond that.

During a visit to “RapFix Live” on Wednesday, the Atlanta rapper explained exactly why he plans to keep the theme going with the new project, noting that it perfectly charts his road to success. “B.O.A.T.S. is like a real healthy timeline of Tity Boy [or] 2 Chainz,” he said. “When I say, ‘I started from the trap, now I rap,’ it’s basically that.”

“When I signed with DTP Records, I remember Ludacris wanted to give me my check,” Chainz said, recalling his first record deal. “I didn’t have a bank account because that was my first job, so he had to give me my bank account, like — fool I can’t just give you no money.’ So [B.O.A.T.S] is just a healthy timeline of how I’ve grown and of the things I try to embody, [like] the city of Atlanta.”

“I finished school,” he continued. “A lot of people talkin’ about how they dropped out and made it, well I went to school and made it, but I still have that ratchett style. So there’s just a few elements [of 2 Chainz] in there.”

After the Super Bowl on Sunday, 2 Chainz posted photos of himself partying it up with Cam’Ron, Juelz Santana and Dame Dash. He wouldn’t admit to a collaboration with Dipset just yet, only saying that he might “get some work done.”

“At the end of the day I’m really fans of these guys and I acknowledge that,” he said. “I see Dame and I just be trippin’ like — ‘You’re Dame! Forget what you talkin’ bout, this is Champagne Dame!’”

2 Chainz is currently out on the road for his 2 G.O.O.D. 2 Be Tru tour with Pusha T, August Alsina and Cap 1, so it’ll be a while until B.O.A.T.S. III arrives, but in the meantime he just dropped the new single “Ima Dog.”
