Ariana Grande Is Back In The Studio... With A Mathematician

'The Way' singer spilled new details on her sophomore album to MTV News.

Ariana Grande proudly declared herself Yours Truly on her chart-topping 2013 debut album. But, she isn't resting on her laurels. Less than six months after the album's release, she's back in the studio pumping out jams for her sophomore album.

"I've been in studio non-stop, so my voice sounds a little hoarse. But I'm working really hard on it," she told MTV News on the red carpet of the Grammy Awards. The singer was at the event to present an award.

"Well, I've been working a lot with the producers that I did my last album with Harmony Samuels and Babyface and The Rascals and Tommy Brown. But, I've also been working with new producers like Max Martin; he's amazing. I love working with him. He's like a mathematician. He knows music like math. It just makes sense to him," she added. "And, Savan [Kotecha] and Benny Blanco and Ryan Tedder. I'm so excited. I'm very excited too."

Grande also broke down what her recording sessions have been like with OneRepublic lead singer, Tedder, who has previously penned a number of chart-topping hits for the likes of Beyonce and Kelly Clarkson. "We cut two songs together already. And he's amazing," she said. "I love working with him because he understands what it's like as a vocalist to want the song that day. He'll literally let me take two takes of something and then he'll have it done by the time I get out of the booth."

In addition to cooking up tunes for her new album, she'll also appear on a track for another artist. But, unfortunately, she wouldn't say who that special artist is. "And I just had a meeting yesterday with an artist that I love. I'm not allowed yet, but he asked me to feature on a song of his and I'm very excited about that. It's an unexpected collaboration but I think that's what makes it so cool," she teased. "I don't want to say anything until it's recorded."
