Macklemore And Kendrick = BFFs? See Their Pre-Grammy Text

Macklemore shares their back-and-forth as T.I. weighs in on his hip-hop nods.

You might be trying to decide if Macklemore & Ryan Lewis or Kendrick Lamar should go home with more Grammy awards this Sunday (January 26). But, the two rap acts are more focused on supporting one another, regardless of the outcome.

"While the world debates... This is what we're on. #grammys," Macklemore shared with his followers on Instagram, revealing a text back-and-forth with Kendrick where they each congratulated each other on their breakout years.

The "Thrift Shop" rapper is, of course, referring to the discussion around which rapper should take home more Grammy trophies on Sunday night. Both Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Kendrick each received seven nominations and will face off against each other in four categories: Album of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Rap Album and Best Rap Performance.

Not to mention, that both Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, as well as Kendrick, will each take the stage at the big event.

Ahead of the big face-off, MTV News spoke to T.I. who opened up about all the hip-hop love Macklemore & Ryan Lewis received at the big event and whether or not the Seattle duo is actually more a pop act than a hip-hop one.

"Well, I mean, I believe it should be both," he shared. "I believe he affected pop culture. I believe his genre because of his method of performing is hip-hop. I believe his comes from the culture of hip-hop. Just because he's so big, he's big enough to where he affected pop culture and he's bigger and sold just as many records as the pop artists, that don't mean that you, don't not allow him. Let him do both and if he go on with both on the, 'Hey man, so be it'."
