Could it be that Johnny Depp has popped the question to Amber Heard? Well, according to the rumor mill, that just might be the case.

After Heard, 27, was spotted wearing what looked like an engagement ring on Monday night, sources told Us Weekly that the pair are readying to tie the knot.

"The proposal happened a while ago," a source told Us. "She just didn't wear the ring." An additional source told Celebuzz that Depp asked Heard to marry him on Christmas Eve. However, Just Jared sources said the sparkler is nothing more than a promise ring.

Reps for both actors had not responded to MTV News' request for comment as of press time.

Depp, 50, was previously married to makeup artist Lori Anne Allison from 1983 to 1985. He later also famously dated "Beetlejuice" star Winona Ryder and later changed his "Winona Forever" tat to "Wino Forever."

He then dated French actress Vanessa Paradis for 14 years. They have two children together, Lily Rose, 14, and Jack, 11. They split up in 2012.

If the engagement news is true, this would mark the first walk down the aisle for Heard. The actress came out at the GLAAD 25th anniversary party in 2010 where she was joined by her photographer girlfriend.

"I hate the idea of a label just as much as anyone else, but I'm with who I'm with, I love who I love and I'm if not a better actress than I was yesterday and my personal life should have no effect on that," she said, adding, "I think that the injustice of people staying in the closet is more than I can bear with a clear conscience, and I couldn't sleep at night if I was a part of that problem, if I was part of the lies."

Depp and Heard met on the set of 2011's "The Rum Diary." They will appear together again in the upcoming "London Fields."
