Don't believe the hype. Miley Cyrus and "The Legend of Hercules" star Kellan Lutz recently got people talking when they were spotted out in the same place at the same time on different occasions over the last few weeks. Though fans should take note, the actor is revealing that they are just old pals.

"With Miley, I've been friends with her for six years now and we run in the same circle ... it's always interesting when two public figures who might be single are seen together. 'Oh let's start a rumor that they might be together.' ... I just laugh it off," he told E! about the rumored hook-up. "She's an amazing girl and she has a great head on her shoulders. I love hanging out with her because she is who she is and she's such a shining star. I'm just focused on work but I'm happy to be friends with her."

Cyrus and Lutz have been photographed together several times, including twice in December. First the pair was spotted on the same private plane heading to Miami in mid-December and then again weeks later at Beacher's Madhouse in Las Vegas after Cyrus hit up Britney Spears' "Piece of Me" residency.

But, Lutz hasn't paid much attention to all the gossip. "I stay out of the tabloids, I don't care to be in the magazines, I don't look myself up," he said. "I don't know all the rumors, but I have an amazing PR team who kind of let me know, 'Just so you know, this is what's being reported,' and then you go, 'Where do they come up with this stuff?' People have edited photos to make it look like you're on a date per se, and this has happened from time to time when I had a girlfriend, or didn't, and now I'm single and very focused on work."
