Marital trouble has once again struck the Kardashian family. Khloe Kardashian has filed for divorce from NBA star Lamar Odom. The couple had been married since 2009.

The filing on Friday (December 13), according to TMZ, cited irreconcilable differences between the couple. The gossip site also reported that Odom and his reality TV star wife had signed a prenuptial agreement. The news comes just months after Kardashian Odom's mother and stepfather, Kris and Bruce Jenner, announced their split in October.

The Odom-Kardashian breakup, however, does not come completely out of nowhere. Rumors of relationship troubles have been circulating in the months since Odom's recent run-ins with the law. He was arrested in August of this year on DUI charges, before being sentenced to three years' probation with rehab.

The recent Kardashian Christmas card only served as fuel for talks of a looming divorce for the couple: Odom was noticeably absent from the extravagant annual photo release, and clips from the family's E! show "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" showed the women in the clan discussing why 2013 might be a good year to leave the men out of the seasonal card. Kim Kardashian cites Lamar and Khloe's ongoing marital woes in a cringe-worthy moment as justification for a female-centric shoot.

When MTV News spoke with Khloe back in June of this year, she spoke lovingly of her husband, saying that she still considered herself a newlywed.

"I met him on August 27 and I married him on September 27, so it was 30 days. That's the first time I ever met him, so I completely understand everyone's criticism," she said. "If I wasn't me, I would have been judging too. I would have been like 'You're crazy and you're insane and you don't even know this person.' But I just felt something. We both did and I went with it and it's fun. I love our story too. I'm not sure I would recommend it for everyone, but I love that I could say this is our story."
