Sunday night is shaping up to be a career highpoint for Robin Thicke. Not only is he going into the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards with three nominations and a highly anticipated performance, but he also got a last-minute endorsement from a showbiz veteran who knows all about enjoying the spotlight.
"Hi everybody, I know you're excited to hear 'Blurred Lines.' Me too and, yes, I hear there's a video out on that now. I must make a point to see that," said Robin's dad, "Growing Pains" star and TV veteran Alan Thicke in a special message to his son that aired on Friday night's MTV's All Access Live Experience, during which Thicke debuted his new video for "Give It 2 U."
"I'm personally pulling for Robin Thicke at the VMAs," added the proud papa. "Because, well, he's been like a son to me." Alan also revealed that his offspring suggested he wear some reflective aviator shades for his pep-talk video and wondered if he was as cool as he was supposed to be. (We think you totally nailed it, Dr. Seaver!)
"I am so proud of you, so excited for you," said the senior Thicke. "I love you madly, go get 'em my boy!"
