Miley Cyrus Locking Down VMA Moonman With A Little Tongue Action

Cyrus tells MTV News that others don't stand a chance at this Sunday's show after she made out with the Moonman.

In just a few short days Miley Cyrus will emerge from the tunnels of Brooklyn to hit the 2013 Video Music Awards stage to perform for the very first time.

Yet, it’s possible that Sunday (August 25) could be a night of firsts for the pop star since she is poised to take home not one, but three Moonmen.

Cyrus is up for Best Female Video, Best Editing and brand-new category Best Song of the Summer for her party anthem, “We Can’t Stop.” MTV News recently caught up with her on the set of her VMA promo shoot, where she seemed pretty confident that she would take home the prize.

“It’s going to be super dope when I win my VMA, my Moonman, ’cause one I already made out with him, so now he has to go home with me,” Cyrus said in reference to a picture she posted on Twitter licking the newly designed KAWS Moonman. “And the other thing that I think my fans are obviously so crazy…and I’m always a big believer that your word is your wand so if I put any ifs then its unsure if I’m gonna get it, or not. If I just say ‘I am’ then hopefully the Smilers make that happen, but if not, I already held him and I already got my picture with him, so I just gonna tell people I won even if I didn’t.”

Cyrus finds herself up against some stiff competition in each of the categories, taking on pop’s leading ladies, including friend Demi Lovato in the Best Female Video Category, while she will have to go up against One Direction and Robin Thicke, to name a few, in the Best Song of the Summer.

So what does Cyrus think of her fellow nominees?

“I don’t think about my competition,” Cyrus said. “I just think about what I’m doing.”

Fans can continue to vote until the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, airing live from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center at 9 p.m. ET on August 25, for Best Song of the Summer via Twitter, Instagram or Vine by using the hashtags: #votemiley, #votedaftpunk, #voteselena, #voteonedirection, #votethicke or #votecalvinandellie.
