Avril Lavigne Toasts New Song With Chad Kroeger: 'Here's To Never Growing Up'

The couple opens up about the single and falling in love in the studio.

Avril Lavigne wants to stay young forever on her new single, [article id="1704154"]"Here's To Never Growing Up,"[/article] which she dropped late Monday evening. The boisterous tune is the lead single off her still-in-the-works 2013 album release, due out this summer.

"It's a pop rock tune. And it's just about being young, having fun, being present, living in the moment and that's what I love to do," she told Ryan Seacrest on Tuesday, with her [article id="1692292"]fiancé, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger,[/article] in tow. Kroeger co-wrote the song with Lavigne. "This is one of the newer tunes [we recorded]. It was me and four dudes and I wanted to write something really fun, like a summer song."

The rowdy nature of the track certainly makes it an early entry into the round of summer anthems. In the chorus, she belts out "Singing Radiohead at the top of our lungs/With the boombox blaring/As we're falling in love... Singing 'Here's to never growing up.' "

The album marks her first since 2011's [article id="1659493"]Goodbye Lullaby[/article] and her first since [article id="1675103"]reuniting with longtime mentor L.A. Reid[/article]. And, he's a big fan of the tune. She said that while she was still recording, "as soon I played L.A. this song, he wanted to put it out right away."

During the chat, Lavigne revealed that she will have a "heavier song" with Marilyn Manson titled "Bad Girl," as well as a duet with Kroeger. She'll also have a tune called "Hello Kitty," about her love for the Sanrio character, which Kroeger describes as "aggressive." She'll be singing in Japanese, adding, "I love Hello Kitty so much there's a song on the record called 'Hello Kitty.' Pink is my favorite color... I'm really excited about this song. I'm obsessed with Hello Kitty and it's really fun and the sound is different."

The album will have "a lot of power ballads, piano ballads, string arrangements," she said, but it is mostly unfinished.

Like her album, her wedding planning still needs work. "Well that's how we met we met in the studio and I was really excited to work with him because he's also a musician. [We] wrote a bunch of songs together, became really good friends and now we have a wedding," she said.

"It's kind of just a lot of close friends and family. It is smaller. It's gonna be quite spectacular and there's a theme to it. But Chad doesn't even know everything," she added. "It was just one of those things we knew. We met in the studio and he proposed in the studio. He had taken a photo of himself holding the ring box [and put it in my scrapbook]. He put in 'Will you marry me?' It was really romantic and it kind of made sense. We met making the record... and he got down on one knee."

Kroeger added, "Every man knows that we get very little participation in the planning and these are good things. You know it just... I think that it evolved into this wonderful thing. When you're sitting there singing across from someone into the microphone you started to develop these feelings."
