Well, that's a side of Emma Watson we haven't seen before. The first teaser for Sofia Coppola's "The Bling Ring" premiered on the international Premiere site on Friday (March 8), and we have our first look at the baddest the "Harry Potter" alum has ever gone before.
"The Bling Ring," which is based on a true story, recounts a series of high-profile robberies that occurred in and around Los Angeles from 2008 to 2009 targeting celebrities like Paris Hilton, "The Hills" star Audrina Patridge and Lindsay Lohan.
As a member of the group of teenagers known as the "Bling Ring," Watson is seen breaking into Hilton's house. The famous heiress' face even makes a cameo appearance. In real life, the group broke into Hilton's house on at least five occasions. A number of the stars burgled by the group reportedly cooperated with the filmmakers.
The teaser strikes a similar tone to a different A24 release, the upcoming "Spring Breakers," which stars Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens and James Franco. After the group robs Hilton's house, the remainder of the preview focuses largely on the group's wild lifestyle and eventual arrest.
"Bling Ring" marks a dramatic shift for Watson in her post-"Potter" career, having already won over audiences in non-Hermione roles like "My Week with Marilyn" and her MTV Movie Award-nominated turn in "The Perks of Being a Wallflower."
The film also stars Leslie Mann and Gavin Rossdale.
"The Bling Ring" will open in select cities on June 14 with a wider release likely to come in the weeks after that.
