The-Dream Says Upcoming 'IV Play' Is His 'Best Song Ever'

Producer tells 'RapFix Live' his latest LP doesn't make compromises.

The-Dream has a lot of quality records. As a songwriter, he's worked with everyone from Beyoncé to Madonna. As an artist, tracks like "Shawty Is the Sh--" and "Falsetto" cement the Atlanta singer as one of R&B's premier talents.

Still, The-Dream believes it gets greater later. The next single is so good that it forced him to change his upcoming album's title Love IV to IV Play. "It's that good of a song it made me change it. It was really that good," he told MTV News' Sway Calloway when he appeared on "RapFix Live" on Wednesday. "It may be my best song ever as an artist."

The singer/songwriter wouldn't give away many details, instead insisting that it just needs to be heard, but after some nudging from Sway, he decided to let loose one NSFW lyric from the hook. "I don't give a f--- about the foreplay. I want it right now," he said while self-editing himself.

"It's about foreplay. I can't even give it to you. I can't even say it. It wouldn't be justice if I told you; you got to hear it," The-Dream continued. "It's really good. You have to trust me on this."

IV Play's latest single "Slow It Down" is also "really good." The track, which features Brooklyn MC Fabolous, uses a slower rhythm, while most of Dream's R&B contemporaries are releasing faster-paced club records. "Enough with them mother---in' dance songs. You gotta slow it down," he sings over a seductive drum roll.

"Me saying 'Slow It Down,' yes, it's too many people doing what they shouldn't be doing, and then they get trapped," the hitmaker explained of pressure from labels and radio that R&B singers get to put out high-energy records.

The-Dream promises that there will be no compromise on IV Play.

"It's not gonna happen. I'm not gonna do it. I'm not gonna submerge myself into something," he protested.
