As the country celebrated [article id="1700540"]President Obama's second inauguration[/article], one of his loudest and proudest supporters, Beyoncé, showed her love for the POTUS on Monday (January 21) when she took the stage to perform the national anthem in Washington, D.C., during the ceremonial swearing-in.

The day was filled with moving speeches, performances and tributes to the United States, and as the event came to an end, it was Bey's time to sing for the president. After the Benediction was delivered by the Reverend Luis Leon, Beyoncé was up to perform "The Star-Spangled Banner." As she made her way to the podium, she gave the First Lady a kiss and interacted with Vice President Joe Biden.

In a demure black dress highlighted with black sequins and emerald-green drop earrings, she was backed by the U.S. Marine Band for her emotional, diva-fied version of the national anthem. On her way out, she greeted the president, who said to her, "Thank you so much."

This marks the second inauguration that Beyoncé has performed at for Obama. She previously took the stage at the 2009 festivities when she belted out the Etta James classic [article id="1603122"]"At Last"[/article] as the president and first lady danced with each other during the Neighborhood Ball that year.

Beyoncé has been a longtime supporter of Obama, stumping for him not only during his first campaign but also during this past election season. Last April, the pop superstar penned a heartfelt letter to Mrs. Obama, in which she wrote, "I am proud to have my daughter grow up in a world where she has people like you to look up to."



In September, she and hubby Jay-Z teamed up for a [article id="1694064"]fundraiser for President Obama[/article]. The pricey soiree was held at the rapper's 40/40 Club in Manhattan and raised upwards of $4 million for the Obama re-election campaign.

Months later, on Election Day, B once again spoke up about her support of [article id="1696835"]Obama in an open letter[/article] she released on her website, in which she cited all the reasons she'd be voting for Obama last November 6. She wrote, "Everyday we see your heart and character, inspiring all of us to give more of ourselves. You are the leader to take us from where we are to where we need to be."

That same day, the singer [article id="1696897"]joined Instagram[/article] and made a splash when she posted a photo of herself rocking a T-shirt that read "Texans for Obama." She also posted photos of herself at the ballot on her website.

Then, earlier this month, all her hard work paid off when it was announced she'd have the honor of performing the [article id="1699862"]national anthem[/article] with the eyes of the country on her as Obama begins his second term as president.
