The Wanted Tried To 'Cheer Up' Lindsay Lohan After NYC Fight
Don't believe the hype! The Wanted may have partied with Lindsay Lohan the night of her latest run-in with the law last week, but that doesn't mean things went down exactly how it was reported.
After Lohan was [article id="1698096"]arrested for[/article] for allegedly punching a woman at New York City's Avenue lounge in the early hours of November 29, reports quickly spread that the [article id="1698151"]tussle was over Max George[/article], a heartthrob from U.K. boy band the Wanted. But his bandmate and party pal Jay McGuiness, who was at the hotspot when it all went down, isn't so sure of that sequence of events.
"It's a bit of a blur actually, but some sort of scuffle with a fortune teller," he recalled to MTV News when we chatted with the group backstage at Jingle Ball in L.A. Monday night. McGuiness was referring to various accounts that identified the woman in the Lohan fight as a psychic from Florida. "It was very odd," he continued. "We actually carried on partying after that. It was reported that [the fight] was about Max, but I don't think it actually was. But [Lohan] was a total sweetheart on the night, so our experience is quite positive."
The guys' experience was so positive, in fact, that Jay wore a "Free Lindsay" T-shirt when the boy-banders took the stage later that Thursday at Madison Square Garden as opening acts for Justin Bieber's Believe Tour. "I'm a little bit of an artist, so I got the old Sharpie out," he explained about the origins of his homemade pro-Lindsay shirt. "And, yeah, after a small scuffle that went down, I felt very sorry for her. I wanted to cheer her up and I think she said she liked it, right?"

Max, who told MTV News he doesn't really remember much of the incident, was happy to take credit for Lindsay's eventual release: "Yeah, it worked. She got out [of jail], so the campaign worked."
Lohan is currently facing a third-degree assault charge in NYC, as well as three more counts brought by the Santa Monica City Attorney in connection with a June 2012 car crash (reckless driving, giving false information to a police officer and obstructing or resisting a police officer in the performance of his duty). In that incident, on the Pacific Coast Highway, the actress reportedly lied to officers saying she was not the driver of the car. Lohan is likely to be arraigned in California sometime this week.
The "Mean Girls" star is also still on probation for her 2011 jewelry theft case, and she could face jail time if the judge in that case decides to revoke her probation in light of her recent legal troubles.
