Ellie Goulding Feels 'Really Lucky' To Appear On 'Breaking Dawn' Soundtrack

'They asked us if we were interested ... and we were like 'hell yeah!'' Goulding says of landing 'Bittersweet' on 'Twilight' film.

Ellie Goulding doesn't exactly know a lot about the "Twilight" series ... but she knows enough to realize that landing a song on one of the ultra-successful soundtracks is most definitely a good thing.

"I'm not a Twi-hard but I take it for what it is; it's a cool thing and I can see why there's a huge fanbase," she told MTV News. "[And] they choose the best stuff for the soundtrack, so I'm really lucky to be a part of that!"

Goulding joins the likes of Green Day, Feist and Passion Pit on the upcoming [article id="1694987"]"Breaking Dawn - Part 2" soundtrack,[/article] contributing a brand-new song called "Bittersweet." And though neither she or boyfriend Skrillex (who produced the track) had much experience with the ongoing saga of Bella and Edward, she said that somehow, "Bittersweet" ended up being a perfect match for the film.

"Myself and Skrillex got together in the studio and started working on this song, and it's about waking up in the morning and hoping that the person feels the same way as you," Goulding said. "And for some reason, every single lyric just ended up relating to this film. And I think when it was played at some point to the 'Twilight' people, they were like 'Oh my God!' So they asked us if we were interested in being on the soundtrack and we were like 'Hell yeah!'"

So, while immersing herself in the world of "Breaking Dawn" may be a bit surreal, Goulding is clearly excited to join the ranks of Bruno Mars, Muse and Paramore, each of whom have contributed tracks to the soundtrack series. And really, nothing was quite as surreal as working with Skrillex in the studio ... because relationship status aside, she considers him one of the best in the business.

"It's intimidating, because he's an amazing producer, and it's like going into the studio with any great musician or producer; it's scary," she said. "But you know, we had a laugh, it was fun."
