On Thursday (October 11), genealogists at Ancestry.com dropped a bloodline bombshell when they revealed that [article id="1695307"]Justin Bieber, Ryan Gosling and Avril Lavigne[/article] may all be related, as they share common ancestors in Quebec.

According to the site, Bieber and Gosling are 11th cousins once removed, while JB and Lavigne are 12th cousins, and each stars' family trees can be traced back to a married couple, Mathurin Roy and Marguerite Bire, who were born in France and lived in Quebec. And as if that wasn't enough to curse your lousy lineage, it turns out that Bieber is also related to Canadian superstar Celine Dion (they're 10th cousins three-times removed, for those keeping score at home).

And while the news certainly proves that there's something to be said for good genes, Bieber's not the only star who can claim some famous relatives in his family tree: Turns out there are plenty of others like him, which sort of makes us believe that there is some super-secret celebrity breeding organization out there, one which, sadly, we'll never be invited to join. Here's a look at some other distant cousins who make us feel terrible about ourselves.

Madonna and Celine Dion: Proving that Dion's ancestors totally got around, she's reportedly also distant cousins with Madonna ... according to Canadian historical records, the two share a relative named Zacharie Cloutier, a carpenter who settled in New France, Quebec in 1634. The Cloutiers would grow to become one of Canada's most influential families, whose ancestors not only include Madge and Celine, but the Dutchess of Cornwall too.

Madonna and Lady Gaga: Looks like Dion's family wasn't the only one who was getting busy back in the day. According to "celebrity genealogist" (yes, that's a thing) Chris Child, Madge and Lady Gaga are ninth cousins once-removed, as both of their bloodlines can be linked to a French immigrant farming couple who came to Quebec in the 1600s. Though given how, uh, contentious their relationship has been in recent years, we don't think they'll be attending any family get-togethers any time soon.

Meryl Streep and Glenn Close: These two share more than acting accolades ... turns out they're also 15th cousins once removed too. And while that's a pretty tenuous tie, this one's a little closer: Streep is also a second cousin once-removed with actress Brooke Shields.

Lenny Kravitz and Al Roker: You might not think it, but the two are actually related ... Roker revealed on the "Today" show that he and Kravitz are third cousins, as the ever-shrinking TV personality was a cousin of Kravitz's mother, the late actress Roxie Roker.

Taylor Swift and literally half of the Country Music Industry: We're not exaggerating here, either. According to genealogy site Geni.com, Swift is related to Reba McEntire, Willie Nelson, Garth Brooks and Loretta Lynn, all through her father's side of the family.
