WANTAGH, New York -- The boys of Big Time Rush certainly have had a memorable summer so far. They are currently halfway through their Big Time Tour, traveling across the U.S. and Canada bringing the fun and excitement to thousands of fans, a.k.a. The Rushers, each night.

MTV News caught up with Kendall, Logan, James and Carlos before hitting the stage at Nikon at Jones Beach Amphitheatre and the boys gave us an exclusive backstage tour of the venue, while explaining the best parts of life on the road.

"We get to wake up in a different city every single day and actually meet fans one-on-one every day," James Maslow said. "And obviously playing the show doesn't hurt."

Logan added, "Not to mention you get to wake up around noon, so if you had a long night, it's always good to sleep in."

Before a show, the Nickelodeon boy band relax in their dressing room, which is covered in red and brown drapes, complete with their makeshift studio, where they are recording their next album, and of course a wide array of video games. In between battles of "Mario Kart 7" and "Call of Duty," Maslow and Pena have to tend to their dogs, an Alaskan Klee Kai named Fox and a German Shepherd, Sydney, who have joined them on tour.

A few hours later, after "X Factor" cutie Rachel Crow and Australian pop singer Cody Simpson get the crowd warmed up, they get ready to take the stage. Yet, before they greet their fans with their opening number, "Elevate", there are many thoughts going through their head.

"I hope they enjoy tonight and to not be nervous, get it out of your mind," Kendall Schmidt said of what he thinks about moments before performing. "We do this little chant like get out of your mind and we pump ourselves up."

Maslow added, "We remind ourselves each night to just have a good time, if you screw up, because we are playing 70 shows, you're bound to mess up things here and there, don't let it get to you, just have a good time."

And they admit that there have been times where they have noticeably messed up, especially during the songs where they bring out a trampoline.

"The trampoline is what gets us the most," Schmidt said. "Carlos went to do a back flip and landed and scraped his leg."

Yet, even when they are falling on stage, serenading girls in the crowd or getting concert goers to yell "woo-hoo" during the performance of their catchy new single "Windows Down," Big Time Rush's main goal on stage is to just have a blast.

"The stage for our whole show is actually really interesting and a lot of fun," Logan Henderson said. "There's always something going on so we figure even the people who come up and don't know Big Time Rush love the show because there's always something going on, so that's what we love about it."

Schmidt added, "And we have like 18 songs so it's like an hour and a half of an awesome show and we're dancing up there and working our butts off for sure."
