Chad Johnson's 'Ev And Ocho' Dropped After Arrest

Football star is out of jail after allegedly head-butting wife Evelyn Lozada Johnson.

After his arrest for domestic battery over the weekend, Chad Johnson's VH1 show "Ev and Ocho" -- co-starring his wife, "Basketball Wives" star Evelyn Lozada Johnson -- has been pulled from the schedule. He also lost his contract with the Miami Dolphins, with whom he was slated to kick off the new season as a wide receiver.

"Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and the seriousness of the allegations, VH1 is pulling the series 'Ev and Ocho' from its schedule and has no current plans of airing it," a VH1 rep confirmed to MTV News about the football player, who used to go by the name Chad Ochocinco.

Johnson was arrested for domestic battery in connection with head-butting his wife in front of their home. The arrest took place Saturday after the couple got into an argument over a receipt for a box of condoms she found. In the midst of the argument, he head-butted her. The officer said Lozada had a 3-inch cut on her forehead, whereas Johnson had no marks. He confirmed the fight was over the receipt.

"We're going to deal with this," coach Joe Philbin said over the weekend before Johnson had been released from jail Sunday on $2,500 bond. "We're not going to waste time. ... We're all in this thing together. Everybody that sets foot in this building, we're all held to a high standard."

In a later statement, Philbin addressed firing Johnson. "It wasn't about one specific thing. It just wasn't going to work," Philbin told ABC News. "It didn't feel like to me that this fit was going to be right for us as an organization, or for Chad. It was time to move on. It wasn't done to send a message. It was done because it just didn't feel right."

In addition to his now-defunct VH1 show that was set to premiere in September, he previously starred in the network's dating show "Ochocinco: The Ultimate Catch," NBC Sports' "The T. Ocho Show" with Terrell Owens, as well as ABC's "Dancing With the Stars."
