Amy Winehouse's Ex-Husband Blake Fielder-Civil In Coma

Late singer's former husband fighting for life after reported drug and drink binge.

A year after Amy Winehouse died from an [article id="1673185"]accidental alcohol overdose,[/article]
the singer's ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, is clinging to life after being rushed to a hospital with multiple organ failure.

Fielder-Civil, 30, was reportedly found in his bed choking by his partner, Sarah Aspin, last Friday and is on life support. The recovering drug addict had gone out drinking the day before with a friend and Aspin, mother of Fielder-Civil's 15-month-old son, told The Sun that she believed he might have taken an illicit substance.

"The doctors say they don't know the prognosis," she said. "They said they put him in a coma to help him and due to infection." She said they had been "so happy" before the incident and had even talked about marriage the day before his drinking binge. But when he staggered home on Friday she called paramedics after being concerned about his slurred speech. When the EMT's arrived they noticed that Fielder-Civil had swallowed his tongue, choked on his vomit and that his left lung had stopped working.

After a tumultuous courtship and marriage to Winehouse in 2007, which included a series of arrests on drug and assault charges for both, Fielder-Civil was jailed in 2008 for assault and again last year for burglary and imitation firearm possession.

"I'm praying he'll survive, but I'm having to prepare myself that he may never wake up," said Aspin, who met Fielder-Civil in rehab three years ago. "I am devastated, just devastated, at what has happened. I just want to cry all the time, but I have to be strong for our son, Jack."
