'Catching Fire' Snags Lynn Cohen As Mags

Former 'Sex and the City' nanny becomes latest tribute for the 75th annual Hunger Games.

The dystopian country of Panem has met its Mags. Lynn Cohen is the newest Quarter Quell tribute to join the cast of "Catching Fire."

Lionsgate, the studio behind "The Hunger Games," has officially announced that the former "Sex and the City" actress is the latest to join "Catching Fire." The news follows the announcement of [article id="1690226"]Jena Malone as District 7 tribute[/article] and victor Johanna Mason, [article id="1689245"]Philip Seymour Hoffman as gamekeeper Plutarch Heavensbee[/article] and Amanda Plummer as District 3 tribute and victor Wiress.

(Proceed with caution: Some spoilers ahead if you haven't read "Catching Fire"!)

Mags is the 80-year-old mentor for Finnick Odair (a much-speculated-about, still-uncast character), who volunteers to be in the Quarter Quell, the 75th annual Hunger Games. Mags is a beloved hero to fans of the books for selflessly volunteering to participate in the Quarter Quell when Finnick's love and former District 4 victor Annie is announced at the reaping. She also becomes an early ally to Katniss. As for her final fate, our lips are sealed — but it goes without saying that she plays a big role in the coming sequel.

Cohen has been a fixture in film and television for nearly 30 years. The actress has portrayed many sympathetic roles, including Miranda's nanny Magda in the HBO series and 2008 film "Sex and the City," and should be a great fit for the nurturing, if hard to understand, Mags.

The second movie in Suzanne Collins' "Hunger Games" trilogy begins filming in September and will hit theaters November 2013.
