It’s down to the Final Four in MTV’s Battle of the Boy Bands!
With more than 8 million votes to date, fans have fought to the finish to get their bands through to the next round, and it wasn’t easy. It came down to the wire between One Direction and Mindless Behavior, with 1D holding on to the lead for most of the Elite Eight. Yet, Mindless Behavior fans made an impressive rally late in the competition and, in the final moments, eliminated One Direction.
The Wanted and Big Time Rush also found themselves in a heated fight, with the two exchanging leads several times throughout the Elite Eight, but in the end, winning by just more than 1,600 votes, the Wanted came out on top.
Westlife and the Jonas Brothers didn’t have to put up too much of a fight in their matchups, with the two groups easily moving on to the Final Four. Westlife took down their ultimate boy band , the Beatles, while the JoBros made it by British boy band 5ive.
So what do the Final Four matchups look like? Let’s break them down.
Westlife vs. the Wanted
Big congratulations are in order for Westlife — they have surprised a lot of people in this competition by making it this far, and judging by the tenacity of their fans, they have a fair shot of making it to the final round. They coasted by the Beatles in the Elite Eight after two big wins over the Backstreet Boys and O-Town. The Wanted have just come off a nail-biter matchup against Big Time Rush and could carry that momentum into the Final Four. One thing is for sure: When the Wanted join Westlife as their opening act at the Ireland stops of their farewell tour, one of these groups will have some serious bragging rights.
Jonas Brothers vs. Mindless Behavior
At this point in the competition, there are no easy routes, and this one will certainly be a battle to the finish line. Both bands have found themselves in close battles, especially Mindless Behavior, who have come off of back-to-back huge wins against One Direction and NKOTBSB. The Jonas Brothers, on the other hand, easily took down 5ive in the Elite Eight but barely made it by Hanson in round two. Both fan groups have come together to support these bands and ensure they have made it this far in the competition, but now is the true test to see who wants it more.
