Afrojack, Tiësto, Steve Aoki Lead Most Anticipated EDM Albums of 2012

MTV News predicts the heaters as electronic dance music's noise-makers hit the lab to take on the album concept.

After a watershed year for electronic dance music in the States, this week, we brought you our picks for the [article id="1677064"]EDM Rookies to Watch in 2012[/article]. But it's not just the up-and-comers making noise. Some of our favorite dance stalwarts have projects in the works. And while single releases typically dominate the EDM scene, stars like Afrojack, Tiësto and Steve Aoki are set to take on the album concept. From artist LPs to compilations, MTV News curates the Most Anticipated EDM Albums of the year.

Afrojack: We can only imagine what Wall Recordings founder Afrojack could throw onto a disc, but we're pleased to reveal that Nick van de Wall is hunkering down in the first quarter to record his very first album. Having taken over Sirius XM in '11 with his weekly "Jacked" show, it's safe to say Afrojack is on track to put together something massive.

Armin van Buuren: Trance King AVB is set to release a [article id="1635956"]new studio album[/article] in the second half of 2012, but not before he celebrates the 550th episode of his "A State of Trance" radio show with gigs in Los Angeles, Miami and Europe. An ASOT550 compilation album is also in the works.

Max Vangeli and AN21: Vangeli and AN21 spent a great deal of '11 in the studio with Steve Angello on the album grind. Although only past hits like the pair's remix of Pendulum's "The Island" and original production "Swedish Beauty" are currently available for purchase, many lucky gig- goers have already copped a listen to "People of the Night," featuring Tiësto, and "Whisper." Judging by these two gems alone, we can't wait for their collabo project.

Sander van Doorn: To say that van Doorn had a monumental 2011 would be an understatement. After unleashing Eleve11 back in the fall, '12 will bring a fresh installment to the popular Dusk Till Doorn compilation franchise.

Steve Aoki: Aoki and his Dim Mak squad have a brand-new collabo-crammed project on their hands. Aoki's first artist album, Wonderland, hit iTunes on Tuesday (the physical copy drops next week), and singles like "Earthquakey People" (featuring Rivers Cuomo), [article id="1674478"]"Tornado" (featuring Tiësto[/article]) and "Ladi Dadi" with Wynter Gordon prove the DJ/producer is determined to bring the fury.

Tiësto: The perennial tastemaker plans to drop the follow-up to his very successful installment [article id="1661367"]Club Life: Volume 1 - Las Vegas[/article] in the months to come. Expect to hear Tiësto's big-room vibe paired with flawless production.
