Nickelback Laugh Off Potential Black Keys Beef

'Thanks to the drummer in the Black Keys [for] calling us the biggest band in the world,' Nickelback tweet.

As they proved in their [article id="1674854"]"Funny or Die" spoof[/article] of that whole Detroit Lions/Thanksgiving fiasco, Nickelback are not exactly adverse to poking fun at themselves. So it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that they've chosen to respond to Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney's recent digs with a laugh.

In the new issue of Rolling Stone, the Keys kitsman called Chad Kroeger and company [article id="1676785"]"watered-down, post-grunge crap,"[/article] adding that "rock and roll is dying because people became OK with Nickelback being the biggest band in the world." On Thursday, the Canadian quartet took to their Twitter account to deflect Carney's criticisms, focusing less on the negative and more on the fact that, well, he did refer to their overall hugeness.

"Thanks to the drummer in the Black Keys [for] calling us the biggest band in the world in Rolling Stone," the band wrote, before adding a very snide "Hehe."

That seems to be the extent of the 'Back's response to Carney, who last year [article id="1665300"]rankled Lady Gaga's fanbase[/article] when he compared the Mother Monster to Madonna on his Twitter account. A spokesperson for Nickelback did not respond to MTV News' request for comment on the matter, but we're pretty sure Carney saw their retort, as he's since retweeted it to his 46,000 followers. And just like that, the first great rock feud of 2012 seems to have reached its inevitable conclusion. Don't fret though, there's still some 360 days left in the year. We're sure someone will rise to the occasion.
