Mariah Carey Surprises Family For 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition'

Singer visits Florida with crew of ABC's home-improvement show.

It might be another month before the holiday season kicks into full gear, but [artist id="976"]Mariah Carey[/artist] is already in the mood to help out the less fortunate. On Monday, the songstress visited Baker High School in Baker, Florida, to announce the latest person receiving a revamped home from "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."

team, the singer was all smiles as she surprised cheerleading coach Finis Gaston with the

target="_blank">news that he would be the recipient of the ABC show's generosity.

Heritage Homes of Mobile, Alabama, is expected to complete the new house while Gaston and his nieces and nephews head on a vacation to Disney World. The show airs December 12.

Carey has been out of the public eye as [article id="1646563"]pregnancy rumors[/article] have swirled around her. But that all may change with the November 2 release of her holiday album Merry Christmas II You. The first single from that record, "Oh Santa!," was released to iTunes last Tuesday.
