Lady Gaga Overtakes Obama On Facebook: Fans Weigh In!

'Her outfits are sexy and she's just crazy,' Gaga's fan explain about her Facebook popularity.

NEW YORK -- It goes without saying that [artist id="3061469"]Lady Gaga's[/artist] little monsters are as devoted to her as she is to them. So when news broke that [article id="1642960"]Gaga had surpassed President Barack Obama in her number of Facebook followers[/article], it really wasn't a surprise to the fans MTV News spoke with after her [article id="1643102"]opening night show at Madison Square Garden[/article] in New York.

"Lady Gaga definitely passed Obama with the number of fans on Facebook 'cause she's awesome," Cathy said. "Her outfits are sexy and she's just crazy."

Laura proudly flaunted her membership to the Mother Monster fan club, proclaiming, "I'm a fan of her Facebook page. I'm one of the 10 million -- really!"

And it seems a key to the success of beating out the president on Facebook is the fact that Gaga isn't a politician.

"When you get into politics things get very, very sketchy and I think that's why she managed to gain more fans than he did," Frankie explained. "Cause as risqué as she is and people say, 'Oh she's freaky. She's this. She's that.' The fans that love her, love her and they'll follow her until the day they die."

So, how does Gaga feel about the accomplishment? "Thank u so much little monsters for following me on Facebook!" she tweeted. "Ten million friends of mine who are now connected to each other."

Not only did she leave thanks to her fans for making her so popular on Facebook, she also left a [article id="1643095"]loving message[/article] for them for helping make her popular enough to play New York City's Madison Square Garden for three nights in a row.

"Today is what dreams are made of. 3 Sold out nights at MSG in my home town. I used to go watch Madonna, Cher + the Stones and would cry. I would stare into the bright lights and imagine I could do anything. Be anything. And I would tell myself it would be me up there one day," she wrote. "Endless thank yous to my little monsters, my family, and my friends who've stood by me. And thank you New York City, for sticking by me too."
