Chris Klein Arrested For DUI

'American Pie' star was busted on suspicion of driving under the influence on Wednesday in Los Angeles.

"American Pie" star Chris Klein was arrested early Wednesday morning (June 16) on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to multiple reports.

The 31-year-old was pulled over around 3:15 a.m. after his car was spotted drifting between lanes on a Los Angeles highway. He failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody. California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball said in a statement that Klein was booked and released on his own recognizance.

According to TMZ, Klein's blood alcohol level was measured at .20, almost three times California's legal limit of .08. This latest arrest is Klein's second alcohol-related bust. In 2004, he was arrested and charged with two misdemeanor counts of DUI. He later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor drunk-driving charge and was fined $1,800 and ordered to perform 150 hours of community service.

Klein first rose to fame in young Hollywood with parts in 1999's "Election" and the "American Pie" franchise, which also debuted that year. He went on to star in a "Pie" sequel, and then a string of poorly received films like "Rollerball" and "American Dreamz."

While his Hollywood star has dimmed in recent years -- his TV series was canceled by CBS in 2008 after just five episodes -- Klein popped up in the news recently when an alleged audition tape for the '08 box-office hit "Mamma Mia!" surfaced on the Web. In the footage, Klein -- eyes bulging -- comes off comically, almost manically, over-the-top, and no one has come forward to confirm whether the audition was authentic or a spoof. Klein then took to Funny or Die, poking fun at the tape (and himself) with a series of absurd "try-outs" for films like "Twilight" and "Dreamgirls."
