Betty White Talks 'SNL' Appearance

'She's incredible, expect great things,' Andy Samberg tells MTV News of Saturday's 'SNL' host.

NEW YORK -- On Saturday [article id="1633670"]Betty White is set to go live[/article] as a first-time host of "SNL." And while the comedy vet said that she's excited about the "Saturday Night Live" gig, she admitted she was already feeling nervous.

"Sure, it's going to be fun," White said from the red carpet on Tuesday at the Time 100 gala in New York. "We've been there [rehearsing]. [Wednesday's] the big day when I see the sketches -- keep your fingers crossed."

"SNL" player Andy Samberg told MTV News that he and the show's crew had gone into overdrive with possible skits for the golden girl. "She's incredible, expect great things," he said. "I have no hesitation in saying that she's wonderful."

After the gala, Samberg said he would book it over to the 30 Rock studios, where cast and writers were set to begin brainstorming ideas for White. "It's Tuesday night ... so we're going to be writing everything tonight," he said. "I hope to [be in a sketch with her]."

What of White's desire to share the stage with that night's musical guest, Jay-Z? Samberg didn't rule it out: "I mean, who wouldn't? It's Jiggaman!"

Last week, [article id="1637198"]88-year-old White spoke to reporters[/article] about her hosting stint and admitted she was a fan of the MC.

"I'm thrilled to meet him. I'm [article id="1638062"]thrilled to hear[/article] he's going to be on the show because he's the hottest thing since sliced bread, but I certainly enjoy him," she said. "I hope we'll get along well. Yes, [I have listened to his music] ... I have no idea [if we'll work together]! But I'm game to try anything. This is an adventure!"
