'Dancing With The Stars' Season 10 Front-Runners Stumble With Samba

Judges say figure skater Evan Lysacek 'lost the battle' with his routine on Monday night.

Even without Kate Gosselin, "Dancing With the Stars" provided plenty of drama on Monday's Latin-themed night. Sans the much-blogged-about contestant, the show still had big hits and bad dancing to contend with. Longtime favorite Evan Lysacek was surprisingly among the lowest scorers of the night, while [article id="1637813"]Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough's[/article] samba had the judges bickering.

Jake Pavelka and Chelsie Hightower: The "Bachelor" star owned up to not being as great a mover as Evan Lysacek or Pussycat Doll [artist id="1632950"]Nicole Scherzinger[/artist], and he managed to land among the low scorers for his samba. Pavelka actually tripped over his feet during his routine, and the judges said it lacked in Latin rhythm. Judge Bruno Tonioli said that Pavelka "didn't wiggle correctly." Score: 21 out of 30

Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya: The Olympic skater also danced the samba, and for the first time this season, he wasn't one of the judges' favorites. Tonioli told him that "samba requires a different kind of action." Carrie Ann Inaba wasn't too impressed either. "Tonight, I definitely felt that you lost the battle," she said, and Len Goodman said it was Lysacek's worst dance. Score: 21

Niecy Nash and Louis van Amstel: Finally, the comedienne did something to the judges' liking, though her best was still among the lowest scorers of the night. Nash and her partner danced a tango that included a lift. She joked to the judges, "Can you believe he picked all this up?" Score: 21

Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy: The ESPN reporter scored decent points for her samba moves. "You nailed it!" Inaba yelled out, even though Andrews' partner was admonished for going shirtless during the routine. Score: 25

Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl Burke: The Cincinnati Bengal attempted a sensual Argentine tango, which scored well with the judges. "You either grow or you go; you grew tonight," Goodman said. Score: 24

Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough: Though the judges were at odds about the routine the Pussycat Doll and her partner pulled off, it didn't do much to affect the final outcome. Inaba was willing to overlook a few slips in their samba, but Goodman wasn't. "I can't accept it," Goodman said after Inaba praised the duo. "[The samba] is a hodgepodge of sexy moves and gyrations." But Tonioli told the dancers they had nothing to worry about. Score: 26

Pamela Anderson and Damian Whitewood: Thankfully, there was no wardrobe malfunction during this Argentine tango, though it came close a couple of times. Anderson, who wore a sexy, black slip dress, played to character and gave the judges as much passion as they thought the dance deserved. "You're not just dancing, you're living the part, and I love to see that!" Tonioli said. Goodman, however, thought it was scruffy and ragged. Score: 22
