Kanye West Leads BET Hip-Hop Awards Nominees

West gets nine nods; Jay-Z and Lil Wayne have seven each.

[artist id="1230523"]Kanye West[/artist] may be in hot water with just about the entire world after [article id="1621389"]interrupting Taylor Swift at the VMAs[/article], but that didn't stop him from notching the most nominations for the 2009 BET Hip-Hop Awards.

Despite his checkered awards-show history, 'Ye leads the pack with nine nominations for the show, which will be taped in Atlanta on October 10 and air on October 27. West picked up noms for Best Hip-Hop Collabo, Best Live Performer, Lyricist of the Year, Producer of the Year, CD of the Year, MVP of the Year, Hustler of the Year, the Made-You-Look award (for style) and People's Champ.

Right behind him with seven nods each were Lil Wayne and Jay-Z, who were nominated in a number of the same categories as well as Track of the Year, which included Wayne and Young Money's "Every Girl" and Jay's "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)."

T.I., currently serving a one-year prison stint on gun charges, was just behind them with six nominations, including three for his collaboration with Rihanna on "Live Your Life." The show, hosted by comedian Mike Epps, will also recognize N.W.A. veteran Ice Cube with its I Am Hip-Hop icon award.

Newcomer Drake also pulled down a trio of bids, including Lyricist of the Year, MVP of the Year and Rookie of the Year, where he'll face off against [article id="1620471"]VMA house-band leader Wale[/article], as well as B.O.B., Dorrough and Kid Cudi.

The DJ of the Year competition includes a posthumous nomination for DJ AM, who [article id="1619854"]passed away last month of a suspected drug overdose[/article].
