VMA Host Russell Brand Promises 'Love' At Show

'There's no targets this year,' VMA emcee says of show, airing Sunday night at 9 p.m. on MTV.

NEW YORK -- Despite the racket of the Video Music Awards stage being assembled around him, Russell Brand still manages to exude an extraordinary level of cool.

This is probably because, as a [article id="1616196"]soon-to-be-two-time VMA host,[/article] he's learned to maintain an even keel. Or, because unlike last year, when he took [article id="1594283"]shots at the Jonas Brothers,[/article] Madonna, George Bush and others, this time around, he's all about the love.

"There's no targets this year, because I operate from love," he smiled.

And though he's trying to keep it positive, you get the feeling Brand's not afraid to slag anyone off if the situation demands it. Because, well, he admitted it himself.

"I'm not afraid of anything really," said Brand, who also talked about the show on [article id="1621153"]"The View" on Wednesday.[/article] "I'm completely fearless."

Which means that on Sunday night, the Jonas Bros, the cast of "New Moon" and anyone within earshot better be ready ... and that includes Radio City Christmas Spectacular mainstay Santa Claus. Seriously!

"I can't top him. No one can top Santa. Except your parents, when they reveal the fictitious nature of him," Brand laughed. "I am a real entity, however, and that is one advantage I have over him ... as opposed to being a marketing device."

Santa: You have been warned ...
