[artist id="3061469"]Lady Gaga[/artist] is known for her bizarre outfits. She’s been regularly spotted wearing body armor, once gave a press conference in a mask that covered her entire face and loves her dress made entirely of bubbles. And she sometimes doesn’t even wear pants when she’s walking down the street.
So when MTV News caught up with Us Weekly fashion director Sasha Charnin Morrison and Elle creative director Joe Zee to talk about all things style, it seemed appropriate to ponder the eccentric nine-time VMA-nominated singer’s sense of fashion.
“See, her hair is kind of in a bow. She has a hair bow,” Zee said of Gaga’s unusual coiffure in one red-carpet photo. “I mean, if that isn’t the ultimate in that trend then I don’t know what is. She’s not wearing it, she grew it!”
Morrison noted that although they seem out there, these style choices have made Gaga stand out in the world of pop music. “It’s kind of like a Chia Pet on her head,” she said of the singer’s bow. “We love it because suddenly it’s become so influential and inspirational.”
After contemplating Gaga’s previous looks, Zee had a very out-there suggestion for what she should wear to the Video Music Awards on Sunday. “You know what I want to see her in?” he said. “Jeans, T-shirt and a pair of sneakers. Oh, she says she doesn’t [own those]? Let’s wait and see.”
The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards air live this Sunday, September 13, at 9 p.m. ET, but New York is celebrating the VMAs all week long! Stay tuned for party coverage, concert reports, behind-the-scenes updates and more.
