DJ AM Reportedly Was Distraught Over Breakup
In the days before his [article id="1619854"]death on Friday[/article], [artist id="1562979"]DJ AM[/artist] was "completely devastated" over his recent breakup with model Hayley Wood, according to anonymous sources quoted in TMZ and People.com. The sites reported that Wood called off the relationship several days ago.
"She ended it, and he didn't want it to end," a source reportedly told People. "The breakup hurt him. He hadn't been in a good place lately. For the past week, he wasn't really around, he was keeping to himself, and he was blowing people off."
Meanwhile, TMZ reported that a woman believed to be Wood was at AM's New York apartment on Friday night. The woman was described as "visibly shaken" as she ran from the apartment to a taxi with a friend by her side.
TMZ quotes an unidentified source as saying that since [article id="1595303"]he and Travis Barker survived a fiery plane crash[/article] that killed four last year, AM had been suffering from stress that was only made worse by his recent split from Wood. The source speculated that the stress could have led AM to start using drugs again after being sober for nearly a decade, although AM's cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
"I can't believe the drug stories. AM didn't even touch alcohol. He wasn't a party guy. It's hard to believe," DJ Scotty Boy, who claimed to have known AM for a decade and said he worked with him in Las Vegas last week, told People.com. "The [2008] plane accident made AM very humble. He cared more about life and his friends. It was hard enough when we heard about the accident and now to hear this, it hasn't really hit yet. It's kind of unbelievable."
