Producers of [movieperson id="196011"]Mischa Barton's[/movieperson] new show, "The Beautiful Life," have reportedly been looking into other options since [article id="1616446"]the actress was hospitalized last week[/article].

According to EW.com, sources say that the producers of the show aren't exactly replacing Barton but are looking into adding another recurring character. The report says that "multiple sources confirm that producers of the upcoming model-centric drama are quietly readying a Plan B in light of the former 'O.C.' actress' current medical woes."

Casting is reportedly already underway for the character, Jane, who "would bear a striking resemblance to Barton's experienced supermodel, Sonja Stone." A rep for the CW had no comment for MTV News about the report at press time.

EW also reports that the show's production has fallen one week behind its July 22 start date. According to a statement from the CW, the delay is due to the show's sets not being ready. Last week, a CW spokesperson told MTV News that the network had no comment on the hospitalization but that neither the show's production nor its September premiere have been affected by it.

A representative for the actress confirmed that she had been hospitalized for undisclosed "medical issues." "Ms. Barton was safely transferred to medical treatment for which she remains hospitalized, as per the recommendation of her doctor," her rep told MTV News in a statement. The representative did not address an "Access Hollywood" report that the actress was placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold.
