'Harry Potter' Stars Don't Let Rain Dampen London Premiere

'The Half-Blood Prince' cast's spirits were high, despite the soggy red carpet.

Red-carpet movie premieres are a time for glitz and glamour, haute couture and hair-sprayed updos, strutting and posing for all to see. Usually.

At Tuesday night's London premiere for "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," the celebs were probably wishing they'd arrived rocking head-to-toe rain gear -- or at least that the organizers had opted for a tent.

Yet Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and the rest of the cast were in high spirits as they made their way down the carpet while assistants held clear plastic umbrellas over their heads. (Read our recap of the night's red-carpet fashions on Hollywood Crush.)

"This is Brit spirit!" Radcliffe told The Associated Press. "This is, 'We got through two wars like this.' This is fine. This is wonderful. This is nothing. It's a spot of rain."

Still, he did admit he'd probably have to spring for a new pair of shoes after wading through the red-carpet puddles.

And Watson's full-length gown will be in serious need of a trip to the dry cleaners. "Big mistake," she said of the wardrobe choice. "I'm suffering for it now. But hey, it's mid-July. It's been beautiful for three weeks."

Not on Tuesday. "The heavens have opened," Watson declared. "It is pouring."

After toweling off, the cast will head to New York for a premiere on Thursday, when there hopefully won't be a cloud in the sky.

But Rupert Grint noted that "Harry Potter" premieres often occur during less than ideal climate conditions. "It always lets us down," he said with a smile. "I think last premiere it was pretty rainy. Didn't it thunder as well? That sounds pretty horrible."

What's with all the bad weather? Watson had a "Potter"-esque explanation. "Everywhere it's like torrential rain," she said. "It's like magic."
