Perez Hilton Says GLAAD Owes Him An Apology

Blogger responds to organization's criticism of his use of anti-gay slur against Will.I.Am.

As may be expected, Perez Hilton isn't letting [article id="1614484"]GLAAD's criticism of him[/article] go by without comment. The gossip blogger has issued a statement responding to the gay-rights organization, which said that he should apologize for using a slur against the [article id="1614452"]Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.Am during an alleged altercation[/article] in Toronto late Sunday night.

In a statement to TMZ, he said, "I am saddened GLAAD chose to victimize me further by criticizing me for how I non-violently dealt with a very scary situation that, unfortunately, turned violent."

GLAAD wants Hilton to apologize for using an anti-gay slur during the alleged fight in which Hilton claims he was assaulted by Will's manager Polo Molina. Hilton, who briefly worked as a media relations assistant for GLAAD before becoming a gossip blogger, said that he should be the one who gets the apology, not the other way around.

"While I doubt I will get an apology from GLAAD, nor do I expect one, I would just hope people know how difficult it is to intellectualize a situation and think rationally when a thug disguised as a musician is screaming at your face and intimidating you," Hilton said. "I am just very fortunate and grateful that nothing more serious happened to me."

In a statement released by GLAAD, the organization said, "We have reached out to Hilton and asked him to apologize for promoting this anti-gay slur, and we would ask media outlets to avoid repetition of the slur in their coverage of this story."

On Monday, a video of the incident was released, and although the footage is fuzzy, it shows Perez getting into an argument with Will.I.Am and Molina, and a scuffle breaking out. Someone shouts, "You just assaulted Perez Hilton," but it is unclear exactly what happened.
