Twilight' Stars To Surprise Fans At DVD-Release Parties

'I'm going to sneak into one,' Edi Gathegi says of midnight bashes across the country.

SANTA MONICA, California -- The [movie id="369195"]"Twilight"[/movie] movie might not be in 3-D, but as it arrives to DVD and Blu-ray on Saturday, don't be surprised if you find one of its stars jumping off the screen and into the room with you.

"I'm not usually the kind of guy that would go to [a fan event] or try to sneak into one," actor [movieperson id="457212"]Edi Gathegi[/movieperson] said recently, revealing plans that will undoubtedly leave some fans shrieking this weekend. "But I'm going to step outside of my comfort zone."

With the feverishly anticipated [article id="1606902"]"Twilight" special-edition DVD[/article] landing in stores Saturday, midnight parties are being planned at bookshops, video stores and other locations all over the country. Twilighters can find the parties near them by visiting the movie's Web site and entering their ZIP code.

On Wednesday, a rep for Summit Entertainment confirmed an unprecedented plan for the DVD launch: "Twilight" stars are being dispatched to secret locations all over the country. If you attend one of the midnight launch parties listed on the site, you could come face-to-face with [movieperson id="365131"]Robert Pattinson[/movieperson], [movieperson id="262629"]Kristen Stewart[/movieperson] or other favorites.

Likely included in these drop-ins are director Catherine Hardwicke and the vampire Laurent himself, Gathegi. "I'm going to sneak into one," he grinned when we asked him about his plans recently. "I don't know which one I'm going to yet, but I just got off the phone with Catherine, like, a few hours ago, and she might be going to one."

Fan speculation is sure to run rampant over the next several days, as fans debate which of their locations could host a "Twilight" star. But even if they don't end up hanging out with the [article id="1601555"]newly buff Taylor Lautner[/article], fans seem likely to still be thrilled with their DVDs -- which include exclusive featurettes, a new [article id="1601060"]audio commentary track[/article] from the stars and a seven-part behind-the-scenes documentary.
