Thanks to a back injury he suffered just two hours before the live taping of "Dancing With the Stars," [artist id="1777415"]Steve-O[/artist] was forced to sit out Monday night's competition.
"DWTS" host Tom Bergeron announced that the "Jackass" alum landed on his mic pack during dress rehearsal, but that he "hopes to be back next week" after going to the hospital as a precaution. The judges then based their scores on Steve-O's rehearsal performance of the salsa.
"I feel terribly sorry for Steve," judge Len Goodman said as Steve-O's partner, Lacey Schwimmer, stood onstage alone, Us Weekly reports. "What I saw, I didn't get it as a performance at all." The judges awarded the couple 14 out of 30 points. Goodman added that the score would have been higher if Steve-O had been able to perform live on the show.
Schwimmer told the audience that her partner's injury looked "pretty bad," adding, "He was so bummed out going into the ambulance today. ... Nothing's broken, but there are plenty of other things that could be wrong."
Last week, MTV News visited the "DWTS" rehearsals of Lil' Kim, former Go-Go's frontwoman Belinda Carlisle and Steve-O, who was already suffering from a back injury. His back pain seemed like it would make dancing in this week's show difficult enough as it was without factoring in Monday's new injury.
"My back is spasming and a nerve's been pinched and it's a big nightmare. We've got this really physical routine that's loaded up with stunts and tricks, and we're kinda waiting to practice them, maybe until we're on live TV," he said last week.
