It will be another month at least before Britney Spears' former manager, Sam Lutfi, will be allowed near the singer again. According to a Reuters report, a spokesman for Lutfi said on Sunday that he has agreed to stay away from Spears for 30 more days as lawyers discuss the [article id="1581619"]temporary restraining order[/article] that was issued against him last month.

The announcement came a day before Lutfi's attorneys were to sit down with lawyers for Jamie Spears, the 26-year-old singer's dad, who has temporary control of her personal and business affairs. On Monday afternoon (March 17), the lawyers will discuss the temporary restraining order issued in February, which requires Lutfi to stay 250 yards away from Spears and her home, but in the meantime, Lutfi must continue to keep his distance. Details about the relationship between Lutfi and Spears are expected to be revealed during the court appearance, according to Reuters.

Had Lutfi not agreed to extend the order, he could have been permanently ordered to stay away from Spears, The Associated Press reported. "There is an agreement between Sam Lutfi and the conservatorship for the next 30 days," said Lutfi's spokesperson, Michael Sands. "Both parties are happy and will continue to work together to further resolve any issues that may have come up in the past."

The order was originally issued at the request of Spears' mother, Lynne, who alleged that Lutfi had held the singer hostage in her own home, taken over her finances and drugged her.

In other Spears news, TMZ reports that an unlikely fellow celeb who has weathered some difficult times has reached out to the troubled star. According to the site, Mel Gibson and his family have privately befriended Spears, and the two were seen together at Los Angeles' Romanov Restaurant and Lounge on Sunday night. A source told TMZ that Gibson, wife Robin and their kids reached out to Spears during her most difficult days and began meeting with her. They have reportedly had several private dinners with Spears, but have tried to keep the relationship under the radar. Gibson suffered through his own public meltdown in July 2006 when he was arrested for DUI and reported to have made a sexist, anti-Semitic rant against the arresting officers in the case.
