Snoop Turns Himself In On Weapon Charge, Promptly Pays Bail

Rapper was booked on felony count Monday in Orange County, California.

Snoop Dogg turned himself in to Orange County, California, authorities on Monday (November 6), four days after he was charged with felony possession of a deadly weapon.

The rapper arrived at Orange County Jail in the morning and promptly posted $150,000 bail, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

The charge stems from a September 27 arrest in which security at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana found a collapsible baton in his carry-on luggage that the rapper said was a prop for a video.

If convicted, Snoop could be sentenced to three years in prison. However, his attorney, Donald Etra, is confident his client will be found innocent (see [article id="1544787"]"Snoop Charged With Possession Of Deadly Weapon; Felony Warrant Issued"[/article]).

A spokesperson for the rapper was equally optimistic. "[Snoop] welcomes an expedited trial which will reveal that these charges are completely unwarranted," the spokesperson said in a statement.

In a separate incident last month, Snoop was arrested outside Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, California, for investigation of illegal drug and gun possession (see [article id="1544216"]"Snoop Dogg Arrested For Drug, Gun Possession At Airport"[/article]). He posted $35,000 bail and is ordered to appear in court on December 12.

A court date for the Orange County charges has not been set.
