Rapper Coolio was formally charged with assault on Friday in Stuttgart, Germany, according to Reuters. The charge stems from a November 1997 incident in which a store manager was allegedly elbowed in the stomach when she tried to prevent the exit of the rapper and six of his bandmembers from her clothing store. Reuters reports that the rapper was also charged with abetting theft in connection with the musicians allegedly removing clothing from the store without paying for it. Coolio and his crew were arrested in November following the incident and were freed after posting $57,000 bail.
