Movie File: 'You Got Served 2,' Zach Braff, Jason Bateman, Anton Corbijn & More

Marques Houston says B2K's dissolution will allow him to develop 'Served' stars.

Do you ever feel nostalgic for the innocent yesteryear that was 2004? Do you long for the days when you could challenge strangers to dance-off contests filled with the latest in ticking, waving and freezing maneuvers? Then be prepared to rejoice, because you're about to get served -- again. " 'You Got Served 2' is in the works," reported Marques Houston, who will return for the sequel alongside co-star Omarion and writer/director Chris Stokes. "There's no script, but we do have an idea. We don't want to make it too much like the first one, but we don't want to make it too different. ... We're battling with the film company; we have some ideas, they have some ideas, and we're just trying to merge one idea together." Houston said he's eager to shoot a sequel, and that the dissolution of their group B2K should give the two leads more of a chance to build up their characters. "I want to see a lot more drama, as far as the acting. A lot of people are like, 'Well forget about the acting, we just want to see more dance,' [but] I'd like to see a movie that reflects the characters a lot more, that has more depth to me and Omarion's characters. We don't have the same [type of] characters as last time, obviously, with B2K not being together anymore. It'll be a lot of pressure for me." In other Omarion/Marques news, their upcoming horror film finally has an official title. "Somebody Help Me" will be the name of the flick about teenagers and the creepy things that happen to them in a cabin in the woods. The film is currently shooting but, despite rumors to the contrary, Haylie Duff is not among the cast. ...

Zach Braff may be back on the big screen in "Chicken Little," but many "Garden State" fans would rather see his sarcastic quips coming from Braff's own mouth rather than that of a puny piece of poultry. To them, Braff says, hold on -- such a movie will be coming fast. The actor/writer/director said he recently wrapped "Fast Track" and will have it in theaters next year. "It's really funny. It's like an 'Office Space'-y kind of comedy with Jason Bateman and Amanda Peet. It's a dark, dark workplace comedy, which the ultimate example of that is 'Office Space,' [but] this has a little 'Meet the Parents' in it too. I go to work for my father-in-law in this office, and Jason Bateman plays my nemesis who, because he was in love with my wife, tries to sabotage my whole life. It was fun because Jason and I have become good friends from both being on TV shows with a similar audience, and so it was fun to play each other's nemesi," he chuckled. "If that's a word." ... "Control" -- rock photographer/director Anton Corbijn's long-awaited paean to departed Joy Division singer Ian Curtis -- has moved at a glacial development pace for the last two years, but the film finally looks like it's beginning to take shape. Corbijn flatly dismissed rumors that Jude Law would play the deceased singer ("Laughable," Corbijn said. "I read that in the tabloids and it's nonsense") but said Samantha Morton is attached to play Curtis' wife, Deborah. It's not the first time Corbijn has worked with Morton; the director cast her as the mermaid in U2's "Electrical Storm" video in 2002. While he wouldn't reveal who has been cast as Ian Curtis, the first-time feature-length director says he hopes to start shooting the film in early 2006. "I originally moved to England [from Holland] for this band. The subject matter is very close to my heart," he said. "There's no agenda on my end, apart from making this a fantastic movie. I'm not trying to become a big film director, I just want to make this one movie." ...

Normally at this time of year, predictions begin popping up for the frontrunners in the race to the Oscars. Just as much fun, however, is guessing who will win (lose?) the annual Razzie Awards. According to the newsletter for the 26-year-old ceremony honoring the very worst in filmmaking, the 2005 front-runner is "Son of the Mask," the ill-advised sequel that landed in theaters in February with virtually none of the talent behind the 1994 blockbuster. Currently the clunker is "way out front of all 2005 titles" for Worst Picture, Worst Remake/Sequel and Worst Actor (Jamie Kennedy). The angry fans who paid to see the movie and have since voted online, it seems, aren't just angry -- they're ssssmokin'. ... Can you toast a triumph by drinking your own urine? If so, the cast of "Jackass" is no doubt hoisting a few over the news that Paramount has greenlit a sequel to 2003's "Jackass: the Movie," the studio's most profitable film of that year. Midgets, alligators and angry golfers had better contact their agents post-haste, as the film is expected to begin shooting soon with plans to be in theaters for the 2006 holiday season. ... Speaking of sequels, Toby Emmerich, the president of production at New Line Cinema, is making plans to balance out the studio's original offerings with a steady stream of upcoming revisited flicks. He said the studio wants to make new installments of "Austin Powers," "Elf" and "Rush Hour," "although we wouldn't do any sequels without the original stars, obviously, because we've tried that and it doesn't work." Emmerich did add, however, that the rumored "Wedding Cashers" sequel at his studio may eventually take place -- but not in the way fans might expect. "Somebody's going to make another movie with Vince [Vaughn] and Owen [Wilson] paired together, and I'd love for that to be us. But I don't even think it has to be a sequel; it would be as interesting to have a [brand-new] movie with Vince and Owen as it would be to have a sequel." ...

Renowned for her dark and macabre music videos for White Stripes, Marilyn Manson and, most recently, Fiona Apple ("O Sailor"), Toronto visual artist and director Floria Sigismondi is currently writing her first feature film, "Behind the Ballyhoo Blues," which she hopes to shoot in summer 2006. "I read a lot of scripts but decided to take matters into my own hands 'cause there was nothing out there I liked," she said. Though the director didn't want to disclose too many concrete ideas about the film's premise, she vaguely offered that "the film's about a place where people come to explore their dark side." ... Remember the cheesy "Sleepaway Camp" horror movies from the '80s that featured slasher killers, promiscuous camp counselors and at least one death by a curling iron? Soon a new group of dumb teenagers will take up residence at the cursed Camp Arawak, in a movie the star, Vincent Pastore, gleefully predicted will be plenty bloody. "We did number five, and I did it with Issac Hayes and a bunch of great guys from New York," the "Sopranos" actor said about "Return to Sleepaway Camp." Rumors have circulated about the film's release delays, but Pastore assured "Sleepaway" fans that it will arrive soon enough, and that it has simply been held back for additional special effects. "They told me the reason why it's not released yet is because of the digital stuff they're doing to it. I think they're putting a lot into it." Pastore, always the joker, then added that the film has the potential to become an unexpected hit: "It may be a sleeper," he laughed.
