D'Angelo Pleads Guilty To Charges Of DUI, Drug Possession

R&B singer given a 90-day suspended jail term, license suspended.

D'Angelo pleaded guilty in Virginia District Court on Wednesday to charges of marijuana possession and driving under the influence of alcohol, according to The Associated Press.

The R&B singer, whose real name is Michael Archer, was pulled over in a Richmond suburb in January on suspicion of drunk driving. Police searched the car during a traffic stop and found marijuana and .029 grams of cocaine.

D'Angelo, 31, was fined $250 and given a 90-day suspended jail term for the DUI conviction, and his driver's license was suspended for one year. This was not his first case of reckless driving (see [article id="1458765"]"D'Angelo Resists Arrest On Charges Of Assault, Aggressive Driving"[/article]).

The singer also waived a preliminary hearing regarding a third charge of cocaine possession, a felony. D'Angelo received a $50 fine and another 10-day suspended jail term for the marijuana charge, and his license was suspended for an additional six months.

Archer appealed the marijuana-possession and DUI convictions to the Chesterfield Circuit Court.
