J. Lo, Nicole Kidman Sign On To Play 'American Darlings'

They'll play bandmembers trying to break into male-dominated clubs.

Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Lopez are about to become swingers.

The two are teaming up to star in "American Darlings," a lively drama that takes place during the era of swing music.

The film will tell the story of a white female band that combines forces with a group of black and Hispanic musicians at a time when women were shut out from playing the male-dominated club scene. Both Kidman and Lopez are expected to show off their singing voices for the project.

Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, the team that executive produced "Chicago," will produce "American Darlings" along with Carl Rumbaugh and Susan Batson. Batson is an acting coach whose clients include Kidman, and she's credited with brainstorming the idea behind the film. The search for a screenwriter is still in progress.

Kidman will also take an executive producing credit.
