Nas Charged With Second-Degree Assault For Club Fight

Rapper allegedly threw bottle at man who came into VIP area.

Rapper Nas has been charged with second-degree assault in connection with an altercation at a New York nightclub on December 10 where he allegedly struck another man with a bottle.

Nas turned himself in to New York Police Wednesday afternoon, and was booked and immediately released. He will next appear in court on January 20, according to police.

Police say Nas, whose real name is Nasir Jones, and a small group of his friends were inside the West Village club Cielo in the early morning hours of December 10 when an unidentified man came into the VIP area and claimed the rapper grabbed him. A fight subsequently broke out between Nas' crew and that of the man. Club security broke up the scuffle, but while they were escorting the man out, Nas threw a bottle that struck and cut the man on the head.

Nas could not be reached and his record label offered no comment.
