Ben Affleck says he's only interested in making a "Daredevil" sequel if his buddy Kevin Smith directs it. So what does the "Dogma" director think about the prospect of adapting his "Daredevil" comics stories for the big screen? "I had heard [there was interest], then I was talking to them about writing it, but I wrote it once [as comics already], you know?" Jerry Seinfeld will write, produce and star in an animated movie called "Bee Movie," his first gig outside of stand-up comedy and commercials since "Seinfeld" ended five years ago. "I have always been fascinated by bee society, the world's most harmoniously run organization, and now I finally am going to be in it," Seinfeld said in a statement. ... Pending a screen test, Katie Holmes is close to being cast as the love interest in the new Batman movie, starring Christian Bale ("American Psycho") as the Caped Crusader. Next, Holmes will play the title role in "First Daughter" with Michael Keaton. ...

Peter Jackson is interested in making "The Hobbit," J.R.R. Tolkien's prequel to the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy set 50 years earlier, he's just waiting for the invitation. "They haven't asked me, and I don't think New Line has the rights completely sewn up -- the film rights to 'The Hobbit' are a bit more complicated than 'Lord of the Rings' -- but I'm assured they must be trying," the director said at "The Return of the King" premiere. "They must be motivated to want to try to do it now." ...

After finishing the James L. Brooks comedy "Spanglish," Adam Sandler will star in "Click," which his Happy Madison company will produce in April. Written by "Bruce Almighty" screenwriters Steve Koren and Mark O'Keefe, the movie centers on a workaholic who finds a universal remote that allows him to fast-forward and rewind to different parts of his life. ... Meanwhile, Happy Madison is developing a sitcom described as a modern-day "Laverne & Shirley" with Chicago comedians Dana Goodman and Julia Wolov for the WB. ...

Hong Kong director John Woo ("Face/Off") is busy filling his post-"Paycheck" time with a number of projects. He recently hired a writer to rework a script he'd like Nicolas Cage and Chow Yun-Fat to star in; he's relaunching the television show "Lost in Space" with a new pilot for the WB; and he's hard at work on a still-untitled action musical, a gangster film set in the 1930s and based on a true story. "It's a mixture of 'The Killer' and 'Cabaret,' " he said recently. ...

MGM has purchased the rights to author Steve Niles' horror character Cal McDonald, featured in the books "Savage Membrane" and "Dial M for Monster." Niles, who just wrote the screenplay for a Sam Raimi-produced version of his vampire graphic novel "30 Days of Night," will also write the McDonald script. Niles' modern Frankenstein story, "Wake the Dead," is also being adapted for the big screen. ...

Dean Pritchard may have met a grisly fate at the conclusion of "Old School," but Jeremy Piven has made a plea to writer/director Todd Phillips (via MTV News) to appear in the sequel, currently in development. "I may have been killed at the end, but you don't know, because the body was never found," Piven said recently. "I think there could be some kind of coma situation, there could be a body cast. I could rise like a phoenix up, and the villain continues, you know what I'm saying?"...

Paula Jai Parker, the voice of Trudy Proud on the Disney Channel's "The Proud Family," has been cast in Spike Lee's upcoming joint, "She Hate Me," about a former business executive who turns to impregnating lesbians for profit after losing his job because he exposed corrupt practices. "I play a lesbian hip-hop star, so look out for that because I get to do a rhyme butt-naked," Parker said recently. "Yes, I do sing. In Hollywood you can't just do one thing, you'll get booted to the side very quickly. So maybe someone will hear me and wanna give me a deal." ...

Rapper MC Lyte is following in the footsteps of her friend Queen Latifah. "I have a film coming out in February called 'Playas Ball' with Allen Payne ('The Perfect Storm') and it sort of parallels Kobe Bryant's [pending sexual assault case] situation a little," she said recently. ... Beginning January 1, California moviegoers can make a citizen's arrest if they see someone in a theater with a recording device. The new law is designed to curb bootlegging, which filmmakers believe is greatly hurting the industry. Signs will be posted in theaters notifying patrons of the law. ...
