What's Up With Your Face, Enrique? Hmm, Something's Missing ...

Singer removed mole after a doctor told him it could become cancerous.

Latin pop star Enrique Iglesias has been separated from his birthmark. After months of speculation, the soulful singer has told "Access Hollywood" that he had the mole on his right cheek removed.

When reports first surfaced in April that a doc had played "Whack-a-Mole" with Iglesias' face, the singer's publicist denied the claim. Now the truth has been revealed.

Iglesias decided to part with his trademark mole after a doctor told him it could become cancerous, he told the TV show. During the interview, which airs Thursday night, he said he has a fear of doctors and knives. According to the London paper The Sun he said, "All I saw was blood. I was freaking out. I thought he was going to poke out my eye. Some of my friends now look at me and they don't even notice."

The entire procedure took five minutes. Learning not to turn the other cheek for photos may take a lot longer.
